Undeterred, he continued his efforts, presenting Amtsilati at Pondok Pesantren Mambaul Qur’an in Mojokerto, East Java, on June 30, 2002. The method was met with significant public interest and appreciation.
To further promote the new method, KH Taufiqul Hakim introduced Amtsilati in various regions and eventually established his own pesantren, Darul Falah, on May 1, 2004.
Amtsilati Goes Global
Amtsilati’s innovative approach has transformed the perception of Nahu and Saraf from intimidating to engaging. Its success has led many pesantren to adopt the method. Regional coordinators (Korwil) have been established across Java, Bali, Sumatra, and even Eastern Indonesia. Recently, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) in Jakarta launched a program to teach “kitab kuning” using the Amtsilati method in all state madrasahs in the Jakarta area.
The efficacy of the Amtsilati method was demonstrated at the 2023 Musabaqoh Qiroatul Kutub Nasional (MQKN) held at Pondok Pesantren Sunan Drajat in Lamongan, East Java, where it won four titles, including three first-place finishes. This achievement crowned Central Java as the overall champion, unseating East Java’s long-standing dominance—a remarkable feat for a method only two decades old.
